FUNCTIONS OF GOLGI APPARATUS
- GOLI FUNCTIONS IN PLANTS:-
1. Golgi apparatus is mainly involved in the secretion of materials of primary and secondary cell walls.
2. During cytokinesis it forms cell plate.
- Golgi functions in animals:-
1. In animals Golgi apparatus is involved in the packaging and exocytosis of following materials:
- Zymogen of exocrine pancreatic cells.
- Mucus secretion by Goblet cells of intestine.
- Lacto protein secretion by mammary gland cells.
- Secretion of compounds of thyroxine hormone by thyroid cells.
- Secretion of tropocollagen and collagen.
- Formation of Melanin.
- Formation of yolk and viteline membrane.
- Lipid secretion from liver cells.
